OPEN FOR PARTNERS NAMES OF PROGRESS
Progress never truly starts from zero. The future also depends on remembering where knowledge comes from NAMES OF PROGRESS connects Nova Core projects with the discoveries, ideas and people who made the knowledge we build on possible. Each identity opens an opportunity to research and share those stories.

Why it matters
Our memory of progress is incomplete.
Some contributions are widely recognised; others were imperfectly attributed or left out of the familiar story. Progress never truly starts from zero.
What the programme does
Research the contribution that gives each project meaning.
When an initiative merits its own identity, the programme researches sources, checks attribution and context, and selects a name that brings the public closer to the knowledge that came before us.
What your participation can make possible
Your knowledge can bring these stories back into public view.
Universities, archives, libraries, museums, scientific societies and technology companies can contribute sources, research, digitisation, subject expertise or new ways to provide access.
- Historical research
- Archives and primary sources
- Digitisation and metadata
- Academic review
- Translation
- Accessible tools
- Education and publications
The shared value that remains
Each project can leave two legacies.
Alongside what we build, an earlier story is told again with evidence and context. The selection recognises documented contributions without canonising people and can be revisited if relevant information emerges.
Relevant frameworks
- SDG 4
- SDG 9
- SDG 10
- SDG 17
- Education and knowledge
- Inclusion
- Access to scientific culture
Alignment with each framework is assessed against the scope and evidence of each project.

How we do it
From project purpose to a name supported by evidence.
After confirming an initiative is autonomous enough to merit an identity, Nova Core defines its purpose, researches and verifies contributions, reviews risks and prepares three candidates. Selection remains internal and is explained publicly without ranking the other candidates.
Activate → define → research and verify → shortlist three candidates → explain the selected name
Rigour, context and independence in the decision.
Nova Core verifies attribution, considers contrary evidence and provides historical context. The final decision is not delegated to sponsors; research records can contribute to a reusable knowledge library.
Partnerships that can activate it
- Knowledge Partner
- Research Partner
- Archive & Collections Partner
- Digital Heritage Partner
- Education & Dissemination Partner
- Programme Supporter
Independence: External participation strengthens the evidence base but does not influence candidate selection or naming decisions.
